With increasing global awareness of climate change and the need to reduce environmental impact, we as a metal foundry face the challenge of running our business in a more sustainable way towards a greener future. Our sustainability strategy goes hand in hand with our vision and values.
An important part of sustainability efforts in metal foundries is also waste management and recycling of materials. At UG metal, we primarily use metal that contains up to 100% recycled metal, and all castings use recycled metal within the norms. This helps to reduce the need to extract new raw materials. As part of our ISO 14001/2015 certification, waste minimization strategies are implemented and effective recycling programs are in place to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill or incineration.
Furthermore, the use of sustainable materials plays a crucial role in our sustainability strategy. By choosing materials that are less environmentally damaging to extract and process, we can reduce our overall environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable production.
Another important aspect of sustainability is working to improve working conditions and safety for employees. This includes ergonomically designed equipment and tools, as well as implementing effective safety procedures and training programs to minimize the risk of workplace accidents and health issues.
Finally, our collaboration with stakeholders also plays a crucial role in our sustainability strategy. By collaborating with customers, suppliers, authorities and local communities, we can identify and implement sustainability initiatives that create value for all parties and contribute to more sustainable development across the entire value chain.
Through purposeful action, innovation and collaboration, we work daily towards a more sustainable future where environmental considerations are integrated into every possible aspect of our operations.
Working with our values is a natural part of our daily work at UG metal and something we take very seriously. Therefore, it is also natural for us to support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, where three of the goals in particular are obvious for a company like ours.
