Cronite casting

Cronite molding is very suitable for complicated goods with many cores.

For larger series, this production method is cheaper as less material is used, resulting in less waste.

Process

The models are manufactured on machine tools and the molding method therefore enables the casting of dimensionally stable and uniform parts with a minimum of machining allowances. The parts are therefore also suitable for clamping and machining on CNC machines, just like die-cast parts.

Cronite molding is also called shell molding. The mold consists of a hard shell of coated sand, baked on machines.

The casting method is suitable for metal casting in gunmetal, bronze, brass and aluminum in medium and large series.

See examples of cronite castings under products.

Core manufacturing

Cores form cavities in the goods and can be produced in different ways. Depending on the physical requirements

– Coldbox cores are suitable for small batches
– Cronite cores for larger batches or where there are demands on the surface

Forming

The cronite sand is formed as a shell and hardened around the hot model plate.
Lift off with ejectors.

Casting

The metal is melted in induction furnaces. This minimizes the risk of gas in the melt.

Cooling and culling

After casting, the molds are left to cool. The parts are knocked out of the sand molds using vibration, a method that ensures gentle treatment of the finished parts.

Purification

For larger series, cutting and cleaning takes place on robots.

Cutting of valve bodies on robotic systems. The cutting is pre-programmed and the same from series to series.

The subsequent cleaning / deburring takes place on cleaning robots. The parts are placed in fixtures. This ensures that the parts are cleaned in the same way and subsequently makes clamping on CNC processing machines unproblematic.
